What is Buildings Insurance?

Your home is by far the most valuable thing that you own. Buildings insurance protects you against the cost of repairing or rebuilding your home if it’s damaged or destroyed. It covers the structure of your home (the roof, walls and windows). It also covers any permanent fixtures and fittings, such as fitted kitchen units and bathroom suites.

Your home is by far the most valuable possession you own. Within it is all your personal belongings and the place you feel safe.

However, despite the best protection in place, there is always a risk of fire, theft, damage and natural disasters that can strike unexpectedly. To protect your home against this you will need home insurance. This is an investment to protect your home and belongings in case disaster struck.

Without insurance it is unlikely that you’d be able to afford to repair any damage that should occur which is why it is so important.

Home insurance isn’t a legal requirement, however most mortgage lenders will require buildings insurance to be in place before exchanging contracts.

This provides cover up to £150,000 per claim and gives you access to legal expertise covering a range of situations. Examples include

  • tax
  • employment
  • residential disputes
  • personal injury claims
  • consumer protection issues.

Family Legal Protection cover is provided by our partners, ARC Legal Group. You can contact them on 0330 165 9057.
